Diaspora Destination: Tafawa Balewa Square




Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos is a 14.5-hectare ceremonial ground. "RACE COURSE" was the initial name.


The entrance to the square is guarded by colossal statues of four white horses hovering above the gate and seven red eagles, both of which are national emblem symbols representing Strength and Dignity.


The square has a capacity for 50,000 people. Also, a shopping complex, airline travel agencies, cricket ground, restaurants, auto parking, and a bus terminal are all located on the plaza.
