Full list of winners at the 15th Headies awards held in Atlanta
Daniel Benson has won the 15th Headies Award star prize of a 2022 Bentley Bentayga. Singer Daniel Benson is famously known as Buju or BNXN, from Nigeria. He also won the Next Rated Award for taking home the Best New Artist award.
The award ceremony held on Sunday at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta.
Wizkid and Tems' collabo 'Essence' won Song of the Year and Best R&B Single for the second year in a row.
In addition to their two joint awards, Wizkid won album of the year, while Tems won best female artiste and best R&B album for 'If Orange Was a Place'.
The Headies is the top Nigerian/Pan African awards show established in 2006 by the Hip Hop World Magazine, a Nigerian publication. It celebrates the best in Afrobeats, African music and culture.
Ayo Animashaun, founder of Hip-hop World Magazine said it was to do with the fact that the awards were being held outside Nigeria.
According to Animashaun “We’re creating opportunities like this so that the world can see a different kind of entertainment,”
This year's ceremony marked the introduction of three new categories, including Artiste of the Year and Best Inspirational Single for artists from Africa and the Middle-East.
