Lagos is famous throughout Africa for its music scene and vibrant nightlife. Lagos has given birth to a variety of music styles (genres) such as Sakara music, Afrobeat (Fela Anikulapo) Juju, Fuji, Highlife and Nigerian hip hop.
Lagos has also played host to loads of International artists such as Stevie Wonder, Miriam Makeba as well as James Brown; who performed in Lagos in 1970, while Paul McCartney recorded his fifth post-Beatles album, Band on the Run, in an EMI studio in Lagos in August and September of 1973.

Other foreign musicians who have also performed in the city include Sean Paul, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Akon, Jarule, Ashanti, Usher, Shaggy, R Kelly, Shakira, John Legend, Boyz II Men, T-Pain, Brian McKnight, JayZ, Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé, Brandy, Ciara, Keri Hilson and Lauryn Hill, Shabba Ranks, Cardi B and a whole lot of others.
Lagos is also known for several music shows/ concerts ranging from the Marlian Fest, The Billionaire Experience, FlyTime Music Festival, Bez, Zlatan, 2Baba Live, Starboy Show and Mayor of Lagos Fest.
